Westag radiation protection doors provide protection against X-ray, gamma and electron radiation, making them ideal for use in healthcare institutions, surgeries, hospitals and research laboratories.
Unlike standard interior doors, radiation protection door panels are lined symmetrically with 2*0.5 mm, 2*0.75 mm or 2*1.0 mm thick lead plates, which prevent radiation penetration. Radiation protection depends on the thickness of these plates, which is equal to the so-called lead equivalent.
The door frames are also lined with lead. There must be continuous tightness between the door panel and the frame, as this is the only way to ensure effective radiation protection.
Given the considerable, weight of these doors, sturdy, strong hinges are of particular importance.
